Locking Device for twin camshaft
engines
47941 Locking Device for twin camshaft engines,
quad camshaft engines (additional tool
required for some engine configurations),
locking the diesel injection pump sprock
ets in regard to the camshaft Engine Tim
ing/Sprocket Locking Device 47941.
• Locking Device 47941 retains twin camshafts
in their timing position to ensure the engine
timing is held during timing belt replacement
applications.
• On Diesel engines which have their camshaft
and injection pump sprockets close together,
47941 can be used in the same way as twin
camshaft sprockets, to retain timing.
• 47941 Locking Device locates in to the
sprocket teeth providing strong lock, in parallel
fit or lateral/offset positioning.
Special Features of 4794-1:
• Variable Pitch feature: This design incorpo
rates adjustable arms which extend or retract
to cover various camshaft/injection pump
sprocket diameters and tooth pitch.
• Ratchet Locking Handles: Two ratchet style
handles for secure clamping in a restricted
space.
• Flanged Sprocket Applications The tool’s slot
ted heads allow use on sprockets with flanged
edges.
Application:
• Slacken both ratchet handles and close the
arms together. Position the back of the arms
on the face of the sprockets. Locate the lugs
of the lefthand arm into the teeth of the left
hand sprocket and extend the other arm along
the bridge piece, as horizontally as possible,
to locate the other sprocket. Spread the arms
apart and into the sprocket teeth.
• Tighten the Ratchet Handles to give firm fixing.
Check that all four lugs are fully engaged into
the sprocket teeth. Always keep Locking Pins
well lubricated.
