Step 2: Setup Radar Menu
Under the Radar Menu select appropriate Scan Density and Concrete Type (or Dielectric is known).
Step 3: Set Grid Limits
Under the Grid Menu, set your grid dimensions and line spacing.
Grid Dimensions:
StructureScan3D comes with four (4) grid size options. Select the size that best fits
the area you’re surveying.
Line Spacing:
Next select the appropriate line spacing. If using one of the printed GSSI grid sheets, the
line spacing is 2 inches (5 cm).
Step 4: Select Cart and Save Setup
Under the System Manu select which cart you’re using with your concrete antenna. If you would like to
use the same grid settings for a future survey you can save the setup through the System Menu.
Step 5: Enter Collection Screen
Once you are satisfied with the radar, grid, and system settings press the green Start button on the SIR
4000. This will open the 3D Collection Screen. There are four different ways to view the 2D profiles and
3D slice maps during collection and you toggle through them by pressing the View Toggle control button.
• Grid Display:
Shows the full 3D grid and your current location within the grid. There are three
views in this display.
• 2D Profile:
Shows just the 2D profile and can be used to perform a hyperbola fitting on the data.
This view is only available from Line 1.
The grid coordinates are displayed at the
bottom left and top right corners of the
grid. The X and Y line lengths appear on
the bottom and left side of the grid.
At the top of the screen the following
information appears:
•
Total number of lines
•
Number in both the X and Y
directions
•
Estimated file size
•
Total Depth Range
•
Dielectric
•
Current Slice Depth and Slice
Thickness
Step 6: Position Antenna
A yellow vertical line appears at your starting coordinate. Position the center of the antenna over the
starting coordinate for your grid. That will be at (0,0) where the center of the antenna is centered over
both the X and Y baseline at the same time.
