CIP 1300 – Use and Maintenance Manual

Chapter 13
MALFUNCTIONS
13.1 Possible malfunctions. Causes and solutions
The proper functioning of the machine depends in most cases on correct adjustment and
maintenance procedures.
It is very important that the rev speed of the rotor be the specified speed between 1000 and
1500 rpm.
The appearance of the shredded material (clear-cut edges without fibre separation) shows by
itself that the adjustment of the counter-blade is correct and the blades are properly
sharpened.
Shredded material that is fibrous is an indication of bluntness or an excessive distance
between the blades and the counter-blade, which cause excessive engine strain and can
mean blockage of the discharge channel and as a result stop the machine from working.
MALFUNCTION POSSIBLE
CAUSE
ACTION
1. The engine strains
excessively
1. The blades have
become blunt
1. Remove the blades and replace
them with sharp blades following
the procedure shown in par.
11.4
2.
The
counter-blade
has become blunt
1. Remove the counter-blade and
replace it, following the procedure
shown in
par. 11.5
3.
The
counter-blade
is not correctly
adjusted
1. Adjust the counter-blade following
the procedure shown in
par. 11.3
4. The feeder speed
is too high
1. Lower the feeder speed by turning
the adjustment valve clockwise
and, if necessary, invert the
direction of rotation of the
hydraulic rollers by putting the
handle in the “BACKWARDS”
position
5.
None of the
previous causes
1. Check the functioning of the
engine according to the procedure
shown in the use and maintenance
handbook
2. The
machine
stops working
1. The
shredded
material has
blocked the
discharge channel
1. Clean the entrance to the
discharge channel according to
the procedure shown in
par.
10.3
Analyse the causes and proceed
with the action shown for
malfunction 1
2. The initial rev
speed of the
engine is too low
1. Increase the engine speed, taking
it up to the maximum
3. The feeder roller
does not turn in a
uniform way or
does not turn at all
1. Air has entered
the hydraulic
circuit
2. The
adjustment
valve is not
properly set
1. Check the oil level
1. Set the speed of the hydraulic
rotors according to the procedure
shown in
Par. 11.1
4. The machine does
not shred
1. The feeder rollers
do not turn in a
uniform way or do
not turn at all
1. See previous par.
