5. Remove the transmission idler spring. Remove the 

transmission belt, first from the idler pulley and 
then from the double groove engine sheave.

6. Install the new transmission belt onto the engine 

sheave and then idler pulley. Replace the idler 
spring.

7. Install the PTO clutch belt and the idler spring.

9.13  FRONT WHEEL

Removal

1. Block drive wheels and jack units at the rear - 

center of the salley frame.

2. Use a screw driver to pry off the dust cap. Remove 

the axle nut and slide wheel assembly off the 
washer and the outer bearing can be removed.

Inspection

1. Use a piece of pipe that is 1-1/2" O.D. to press out 

the inner bearing and seal.

2. Use a punch to drive out the bearing cones (if 

needed).

3. Inspect and replace any worn or damaged parts.

4. Use caution when replacing the bearing cones to 

prevent damage. 

5. Pack rim and bearing with multi-purpose grease.

6. Press the inner bearing and seal in place flush with 

center hub (opposite side of valve stem).

Installation

1. Pack rim and bearing with multi-purpose grease. 

Slide wheel on axle, pack outside bearing with 
multi-purpose grease and insert into the rim. 
Replace the washer and nut, and tighten down. 
Back off on nut just enough for wheel to spin free.

NOTE: Insure that there is no wheel wobble. If wobble 
exists, shimming may be necessary, behind the nut 
and washer to eliminate. Use thrust washers for shims.

2. Use a rubber hammer or soft mallet to replace dust 

caps.

9.14  REAR WHEEL AND HUB

1. Block front wheels.

2. Jack the appropriate side of unit.

3. Remove the four lug bolts and remove the wheel.

NOTE: If needed use a gear puller to loosen hub on 
axle.
