8.1 FILTER CHANGE
NOTE: Be sure to replenish the hydraulic system with
clean, fresh oil.
1. Place an open-top container under the filter.
2. Clean around filter and turn counterclockwise to
remove.
3. If hydraulic system is to be drained place an open-
top container that will hold at least 4 quarts of oil
under the transmission where the supply line
connects. Disconnect line and drain.
4. Reconnect supply line if drained.
5. Replace filter with a new "Gravely" filter to insure
proper oil filtering.
6. Apply a thin coat of oil to the filter seal, and hand
tighten filter securely.
7. Run the unit for 3 to 4 minutes and check for any
leaks.
8.2 HYDRAULIC HOSES
1. When working on hoses, have a container large
enough to hold at least 6 quarts of oil. Some hoses
will drain one side of the hydraulic tank and/or
transmission.
2. Clean any filter where maintenance is to be
performed prior to removing hoses to prevent
system contamination. Cap components if
possible.
NOTE: Place lift lever into float position prior to working
on hydraulic system. Some lines may have pressure on
them.
3. After any hydraulic hose maintenance, change oil
and filter.
SECTION 8 - HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
IMPORTANT: Gravely recommends changing
the oil and filter after any hydraulic
maintenance is performed on the hydraulic
system.
WARNING: When running unit for the first
time after maintenance has been performed
"DO NOT" allow the hydraulic fluid level to
drop below the top of the outlet fitting. If this
occurs, the system will draw air into the line
and could cause damage to the hydraulic
components.
CAUTION: When loosening any hydraulic
hoses, use the correct wrench. If hoses are to
be disconnected at a fitting use two wrenches,
one on the hose and one on the fitting, to
prevent damage by twisting off the fitting.
