9.VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
This section describes the works which should be carried out regularly with
in the intervals between the maintenance operations stated in the Service Book.
9.1. CHECKING ENGINE OIL LEVEL
Check engine oil daily prior to engine starting. When doing so park the
vehicle on level ground.
The oil level must be between the upper and the lower marks on the oil
dipstick. If oil level drops to the lower mark, add oil to bring it to the proper
level.
Never run the engine with the oil level below the lower mark.
Pour fresh engine oil via the filler neck covered with the cap.
9.2. CHECKING OIL LEVEL IN GEARBOX, TRANSFER CASE
(for 4WD Vehicles)
AND REAR AXLE
Check oil level on an unladen vehicle standing on level ground with the
units cold.
Oil level in the gearbox must be to the level of the filler hole lower edge –
Fig. 9.1 (for the plug located on the right side) or 7 mm below the filler hole
lower edge (for the plug located on the left side).
Oil level in the transfer case and the axle (Fig. 9.2) should be to the bot
tom edge of the filler hole.
