Section 4 – Remote Configuration & Operation
This section discusses remote control configuration and operation, which allows you to control the PT-
353 and PR-353 modules, as well as other Intraplex modules and shelves, from a central location
using one of these features:

IntraGuide Configuration and Management Software –Windows
®
-based software you can
use to configure and monitor multiple Intraplex systems from one control point. The IntraGuide
gives complete details on using this software. Section 4.2 – IntraGuide Software gives several of
the IntraGuide screens that pertain to these modules.
● NetXpress Web Browser Interface – When these modules are installed in a NetXpress
multiplexer, they can be controlled by the NetXpress Web browser interface, as the NetXpress
Installation & Operation Manual describes.
● ISiCL – Intraplex Simple Remote Control Language; a command-line interface from a PC or dumb
terminal. With ISiCL, you can set the module’s operating parameters and make status and
configuration inquiries. ISiCL can also be used for control by a higher-level network management
system (NMS). Your Intraplex multiplexer operating manual gives details on using ISiCL remote
control commands. Section 4.3 – ISiCL Interface describes the ISiCL commands that are particular
to the PT-353 and PR-353 modules.
4.1 Remote Configuration
In order to configure the PT-353 and PR-353 modules remotely, you must physically set the module
switches to remote control. Perform these steps:
1. Set the REMOTE switch to local control (SW3 Position 3 UP – PT-353 and PR-353 – Table 3-5).
2. Turn service off (SW3 Position 4 DOWN – PT-353 and PR-353).
3. Install the module.
4. Wait 15 seconds for the module’s parameter settings to load into the shelf common module.
5. Remove the module and turn the REMOTE switch on (SW3 Position 3 DOWN – PT-353 and PR-
353). Do not turn the service on.
6. Reinstall the module.
7. Verify the configuration via remote control by issuing a CONFIG? command, which is
accomplished by entering this command structure:
<Address>:<SCBaddress>:CONFIG?:;
For example, :C1:CONFIG?:; calls to SCB address number 1. The card configuration in the address
is returned. (Table 4-1 shows a sample response.)
