• Do not overfill the bag. When sealing flat objects, always leave at least 5 cm
(2 inches) of free space on top of the bag material to enable evacuation and
sealing. With large objects, it is better to leave at least 8 cm (2.5 inches) of free
space above the objects. When using vacuum containers, leave at least 2,5 cm
(1 inch) of free space above the food.
• When vacuum sealing sharp-edged objects (e.g. bones, spaghetti), protect the
bag from punctures. For this you may wrap the objects in paper towel. Alterna-
tively use a vacuum container.
• Pre-freeze delicate food that will be stored in the freezer after vacuum sealing.
This way the food will not be mashed during evacuation and liquids (e.g. jui-
ces) will not be sucked out so easily. Food containing a lot of liquid (e.g. steak
sauces, fresh vegetables) may be freezed for an hour. This may stop the liquid
from getting sucked into the vacuum pump.
• For vacuum sealing large objects, stretch the bag gently flat, while pushing it
into the vacuum chamber. Additionally, always ensure that the sealing area of
the foil is completely dry and clean. Wrinkles, liquids, and particles within the
sealing area prevent airtight sealing.
• You may achieve even sealing results, when leaving the appliance cool down
for approx. 20 seconds with the lid open after each sealing cycle.
• After various sealing cycles have been started in short time, decreasing the
sealing time to 3 seconds is adequate for most types of foil.
• If in doubt, whether your bag is completely airtight, simply make a second seal.
• Do not vacuumize hot food! Due to the high temperature, large amounts of
liquid may evaporate under low pressure, thus being sucked into the vacuum
pump. This could damage the appliance. Additionally, the consistency of your
food may the influence unpleasantly. Always leave your food cool down before
vacuum sealing or simply seal the bags via the seal only function.
• Delicate objects may be sealed via the pulse function. Let the vacuum pump
agitate until the bag nestles tightly against the food. Alternatively, use a vacuum
container.
• To ensure best results, only use foils, bags, and vacuum containers recommen-
ded by the manufacturer.
