Zone Expander Card Ident & Zone Allocation

Each of the

840

expander cards has eight pairs of ident pins labelled EXP1 to EXP8. It

is essential that the expander cards have the correct ident set. The jumper (supplied
with the unit in position 1) should be moved to the desired ident before the system is
powered up. No two zone expander cards should share the same ident.

As with the control panel zones 3 wiring methods are available for the expander cards.
These are:-

4 Wire

(giving 4 zones and 4 tamper loops per card)

2 Wire

(giving 8 two wire zones per card)

2 Wire EOL

(giving 8 two wire EOL zones per card)

Each expander may be programmed individually (through the control panel) for the
wiring mode you wish to use. Any unused expander cards may be programmed to Off.

To simplify the counting of zones for the Gardtec

840

when expanders are used

the panel should be viewed as unit 1, therefore the first expander becomes unit
2. All zones on unit 2 begin with a 2 (ie.zone 21 is on the second unit as it begins
with a 2). The second expander is unit 3, all zones on unit 3 begin with a 3, and
so on.....

Zones are allocated to each card with respect to the jumper position as follows:-
