Chapter 4: Maintenance

Clean the Nebulizer

CyTOF XT User Guide

Firmly hold the nebulizer holder with one hand. With the other hand gently pull the
nebulizer off the nebulizer holder.

To clean the nebulizer, follow the daily cleaning method below.

Materials Required for Cleaning

IMPORTANT

Do not sonicate the nebulizer or put pressure on the fragile nebulizer tip.

Daily Cleaning Method: 10% Contrad/Decon

NOTE

Use this method first to remove any clogs that are not part of the daily cleaning. If

clog remains, follow the hot-water cleaning method detailed in the next section.

Label a 5 mL round-bottom tube and fill it with approximately 3 mL of 10%
Contrad/Decon.

Lubricate one end of Tubing 1 (larger diameter tubing) from the Nebulizer Cleaning Kit
with 10% Contrad/Decon.

Connect the side arm of the nebulizer to the syringe with Tubing 1.
