Certificates Page
The SSL Certificate is used to validate a secure connection between the Web Server of the
VNM EC 200 and the Web browser. When the VNM EC 200 is configured in secure mode
the Web browser must connect using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) which is denoted by the
browser showing the "https://" moniker in the address bar.
The
Certificates
page allows the user to generate, download, and upload new security
certificates when running the system in secure mode. The EC 200 includes a self-signed
certificate which can be modified by the user. When modified, the EC 200 then generates a
new self-signed certificate. If the company has its own signed certificate, it can be uploaded
to the EC 200 from this page.
NOTE:
The ability to download or upload a certificate can only be done when the
system is running in secure mode. This is to ensure that security keys cannot be
intercepted by outside parties.
The
Certificate
Details
panel displays the information for the currently loaded
certificate (see figure 21).

The default self-signed certificate causes the browser to display a warning to the user that
the site is not secure. The user must manually accept the connection. Once accepted, the
browser and server communicate over a secure link.
Self-signed Certificate Generation
Users can generate a self signed certificate using the
Generate
button. When
Generate
is selected, the
Certificate
Details
fields are editable and can be modified with the
user information. When the changes are complete, select
Apply
Changes
to save the
current certificate data. The new data then validates the SSL connection when the system is
in secure mode.
