TUNING

ENTANGLED

Considerable

amount

of fish

line

entangled

around

the

propeller

shaft.

Some of

the

fish

line

actually

melted,

giving

it the appearance

washer.

Remove

the

cotter

key,

propeller

nut,

shear

pin, and the propeller

from the shaft.

Check the propeller

shaft

seal to be sure it

is not leaking.

Check the area just forward

of the

seal

be sure

a fish

line

is not

wrapped around the shaft.

Operation At Recommended RPM

Check

with the local OMC dealer,

or a

propeller

shop

for

the

recommended

size

and pitch for a particular

size engine, boat,

Ski rope entangled

around the propeller

shaft.

Some

of the rope has actually

melted

and fused

together.

fuel economy.

regular

automotive-type

grease in the lower

unit,

because

expands

and

foams

too

New propeller

ready for

installation.

On the smaller

horsepower

engines,

damaged

propeller

can

cause

excessive

vibration,

resulting

in failure

of more expen-

sive parts.

The modest

cost

new

propeller

therefore

justified.

Rebuilding

small propeller

is not

economical

when balanced

against

the minor

difference

of purchasing

a new

unit.
