Rotate

the

pulley

slightly

COUNTERCLOCKWISE

and

then

release

it to be sure

there

is proper

engagement

with the

spring

and the

pulley

has good spring tension.

ATOP FLYWHEEL WITH NYLON PAWL

5- Install the friction

spring and link and

the

nylon pawl onto the

starter

hub.

The

friction

spring

fits

into

groove

in the

spindle.

Pull just a little

on the

pawl and

set it over the stud on the flywheel pulley.

Snap the

E-clip

over

the

top of the

pawl to secure

it in place.

Rotate

the

pulley

three

complete

revolutions,

and

then

work

the

rope

out

through

the hole in the pulley and the hous-

ing.

Pull on the rope until a couple of feet

are

exposed.

Tie a knot

in the

rope

and

allow

the

rope to rewind

until

the

knot is

tight

against

the housing.

Work the

end of
