4.
Check whether the ink pressure is set to its rating value. The value of the rating pressure depends
on the diameter of nozzles in the print head. The nozzle diameter is engraved on the nozzle plate.
5.
Start continuous printing of a sample file (with
Text rpt.
=
CONTIN.
).
6.
Move to the
SERVICE
menu and select the
OTHERS
command. Type a service password. Go to
the
ADJUSTMENTS
menu, set
Intensity=170
. and indicate the nozzle to be adjusted with the
Set Nozzle no
parameter.
7.
Insert a
screwdriver for cross recessed
screws (TORX-type wrench No.
T6
or
a 0.035” stem wrench or IMBUS 0,035” for
older types of print head) onto the adjusting
screw whose number corresponds to that
previously set with the
Set Nozzle no
parameter. Screw in the screw with the
wrench until ink drops start flowing out of
the nozzle under adjustment.
Electromagnet numbers are marked on
plastic bodies - see the illustration on the
right.
8.
While turning the wrench and moving
a sheet of paper perpendicularly to the
nozzle axis at a distance of 10mm, adjust
the dot size as required. The dot must be
round in shape with no satellites or
splashes.

9.
Adjust other nozzles as described at items 7, 8 above to get the same dot size for all nozzles.
10.
On adjusting the last nozzle, turn them all on at the same time (
Set Nozzle no=All
) and while
turning the consecutive adjusting screws clockwise or counter-clockwise (maximum ¼ of the
rotation) shape all dots so that they are all of a similar size.
11.
Reduce ink drop intensity to
50
(with the parameter
Intensity=50
) and improve the adjustment by
following steps 8, 9 and 10.
12.
Exit the
ADJUSTMENTS
menu and stop the printing.
13.
Check what the deflection of the ink jet from the nozzle axis is. To do this, observe ink jets on
a light background with the rinse key
on. The ink jets must not be either deflected from the
axis by more than 2mm on the horizontal and vertical planes or crossed, when they are at
a distance of 60
÷
80mm from the front of the head and jetted at the rated ink pressure. If this
requirement is not met, clean the nozzles. If this does not help, replace the nozzle plate and
perform steps 6 to 12 of the adjustment procedure again. Should no positive results be obtained
after the replacement, check for proper installation of flexible connectors and electromagnet units
or get the print head repaired.
14.
After the solenoid valves have been adjusted, reinstall the housing and place the head in the
head holder in its working position.
The first overprint below is made after electromagnets have been adjusted properly. The other
overprints are made when the electromagnet for nozzle No. 6 is out of order. The improper
adjustment is presented on the clock face, where one full rotation is 60 minutes.
