3.4.5 350-d power source
Each individual 350-d unit can be powered from either or
both of two power sources:
1. ac power (110 V or 230 V),
2 48 V dc power.
Either can be used individually as a power source or
when both inputs are present, the current will be shared
between both ac and dc power.
Redundant ac power supplies are not handled by the
350-d unit itself, however the Sonix Pm10 unit can
be used which will automatically monitor and switch
between two independent ac power sources. The Pm10
unit provides the facility of connecting two incoming
ac power inputs and instantly and reliably switches
between them – it is also the recommended power
supply unit for all Sonix PA/GA systems. Please refer to
the Sonix Pm10 Technical Manual for details.
Warning: Do not ‘Hot plug’ the dc power
connections, they have no priority on connection
and a lack of 0V return can cause damage to the
unit.
3.4.5.1 AC Input
The Sonix 350-d unit’s ac input should be supplied
from 110 or 230 V ac at 50 to 60 Hz. This is delivered
via a standard IEC 60320/C13 connector. The minimum
required wire size is 0.75 mm
2
for each conductor in the
3-core power cable.

Warning: Power cable must include an
adequately sized Earth conductor, connected to
protective earth.
ote: N As these cables are power feeds, they should be, where pos-
sible, routed within the PA/GA system in a separate way to avoid
contact with dc power or audio cables and reduce the possibility of
interference.
3.4.5.2 48 V dc (battery) input
While the ac input is the preferred power input method,
the 350-d has an alternative, 48 V dc power input
available. This will typically be connected to an externally
regulated (± 0.5%) dc power supply capable of providing
at minimum 8 A.

Warning: The dc input requires a regulated
supply to 48 V ±0.5% due to output regulation
being directly related to dc input.
