5.3.1 Local Ticktone
Local Ticktone is an audible, amplifi er generated, pulsed
tone that can be played over all connected loudspeakers
and is used for testing and commissioning the speaker
loops. The audio is broadcast over the out port only, so
that loop diagnostics can be performed. The diagram
below illustrates this:

In a standard broadcast, audio is transmitted through
both out and return paths for redundancy. Ticktone only
broadcasts on the Out path, this allows the technician
to narrow-down a possible 100 V line breakage by
following the loudspeaker loop and checking for audio
on each individual speaker.
