However, in the case where more than one 350-d in
a hot standby loop is faulty, audio from Hot Standby
amplifi er will only cover the output of the 350-d that is
closest to the Hot Standby amplifi er and leave the other
faulty amplifi er’s loop without audio, as per diagram
below:

Because of this, it is recommended that for the bigger
systems there is one Hot Standby unit per maximum
eight amplifi ers.
5.5.1
Zones and Hot Standby amplifi er
Normal Hot Standby amplifi ers are confi gured as All-Call
amplifi ers, this allows them to replace any amplifi er
they are supporting and provide full coverage. It is also
possible to set a Hot Standby amplifi er as a zoned unit,
this provides a mechanism for prioritising amplifi er
replacement. A zoned Hot Standby amplifi er will only
activate for the confi gured zone for a Routine Speech
broadcast. Broadcasts of Emergency Speech or Alarms
will cause it to activate for any zone, regardless of the
settings, same as an All Call amplifi er.
This feature is intended to help avoid broadcast of
excessive routine speech messages into sensitive areas,
like accommodation, while still providing emergency
coverage.
