Assembly
1. Position the countershaft vertically in a press with the
front end facing up and supported by the lower face of
the 2nd speed gear (machined on the countershaft).
Position the 3rd speed gear (4) on the shaft with the
most prominent side of the flange facing up and, with a
proper tubular device on the gear, press the shaft and
install the 3rd speed gear.
2. Repeat the previous step for each of the following gears,
in this order:
- 4th speed gear (3), with the prominent side facing
the 3rd speed gear.
- 6th speed gear (2), with the prominent side facing
up
- Countershaft drive gear (1) with the prominent side
facing the 6th speed gear.
3. Using a tubular device EEA-17004, press the front
bearing cone until its stop, with the smaller diameter of
the cone facing up.
CAUTION!
Place the tubular device in
the inner track of the bearing. NEVER
place it on the cage.
4. Turn the countershaft on the press and maintain it in the
vertical position, but this time with the rear end facing
up and supporting it on the drive gear.
5. Using a proper tubular device (not shown), press the rear
bearing cone until its stop, with the smaller diameter of
the cone facing up.
CAUTION!
Place the tubular device in
the inner track of the bearing. NEVER
place it on the cage.
