Apply heat lamp (or 250 watt light
bulb) to mounting port in sump case until case is
hot to the touch with bare hands. Insert drive quill
into case, carefully meshing gears and guiding
sleeve flange over mounting studs.
NOTE
NAS1197 washers shall be replaced with
AN960JD washers.

Install an aluminum washer (5), a
thin steel washer (4), a spacer (3), a thin steel
washer (2), and a nut (1) on each of six mounting
studs. Torque nuts 50 to 70 inch-lbs. (5.65 to
7.91 Nm).

Check quill (7) for freedom of
rotation and for existence of gear backlash.

Apply a bead of adhesive (C-308)
in gap around edge of quill sleeve where flange
contacts case.

Install forward section of tail rotor
driveshaft (Chapter 65).

Fill sump to proper level with oil
(Chapter 12). Check for oil leaks at next run up.

Lubricate tail rotor driveshaft flex
coupling. Refer to Chapter 65.

Check for oil leaks at next run up.

Install induction baffle panels.
Close cowling.
