A.3 Functional Descriptions
Max. capacity (max. delivery):
●
4 pots (50 oz) can be delivered directly one
after the other.
Specification:
at a starting temperature of 197 °F in the
boiler the temperature in the last pot will be
176 °F (mixed temperature).
●
This capacity is effected by the water
distributor sheet in the bottom of the boiler.
It prevents that refilled cold water is mixed
with the upper layer of hot water.
Mixing would cool down the upper layer
and reduce the max. capacity.
●
If the dispenser is applied only for small
portions (cups) it could be of advantage to
remove the water distributor sheet.
●
If the water is heavily mixed the
temperature sensor reacts faster to
incoming water.
A.3.2 Function: Boil over Sensor
●
The boil over sensor (bimetal temperature
limiter) is mounted above the overflow
opening (see pg. 5.A-12)
●
The water starts boiling and steam
develops if the temperature control system
does not switch the heating off in time due
to a malfunction.
●
The boil over sensor is heated by this
steam. When the water in the housing boils
over the bimetal switch interrupts the
electric current in the safety circuit, which
causes the protector relay to interrupt the
electrical connection to the heating
elements.
●
Depending on the adjusted heating capacity
the boil over sensor will switch the heating
off within 10 to 30 sec. after the "boiling
phenomenon" has started.
●
Manually reset the switch in the boil over
sensor.
A.3.1 Function: Boiler and Dry
Running Protection
Boiler
●
Container:
atmospheric container made from plastic
Capacity: 2.6 gal
●
Heating elements:
The water in the boiler is heated by up to 3
heating elements.
●
Dry running protection: capillary tube -
temperature limiter
The dry running protection is wound with
capillaries around the heating elements.
The switch housing is fastened to the boiler
cover.
●
The capillary tube is heated when the
heating remains switched on without water
being in the boiler (malfunction).
The triggering temperature of the dry
running protection is 298 °F.
This interrupts the electric current in the
safety circuit. The protector relay interrupts
the electrical connection to the heating
elements.
●
Depending on the adjusted heating capacity
the dry running protection will switch the
heating off after approx. 20 to 30 sec. (after
switching the heating on in a dry boiler).
●
A bad thermal conduction of the capillary
tube can cause a delayed triggering of
the switch which leads to the danger of a
fire. Proper fastening of the capillary tube to
the heating element is extremely important
(see pg. 5.A-11).
●
The switch in the dry running protection has to
be reset manually by a pin (see pg. 5.A-9).
