Connecting the outputs
All loads should either be connected to the front panel binding post or rear panel output.
TURN DEVICE OFF BEFORE CONNECTING TO OUTPUT TERMINALS
Turn off the device power before connecting to the output terminals.
LETHAL VOLTAGES AND CURRENTS
- SHOCK HAZARD. Floating voltage must not exceed 240 V
DC
. The total voltage on the output terminal and the
floating voltage must not be more than 240 V
DC
from chassis ground.
- The output terminal is designed for DC application. Ensure that transient voltages do not exceed 90 V
PK
.
- The connector screw terminals will be at hazardous potential when in operation.
- Personal injury on contact may result if these terminals are touched when equipment is in operation.
- To avoid injuries, always disconnect power, discharge circuits, and remove external voltage sources before
any installation.
- Installation procedures must be performed by a qualified and trained personnel on this equipment.
DO NOT TOUCH CABLES DURING OPERATION
Do not touch the cable while the instrument output is operational to prevent electric shock hazard and burn
hazard.
DO NOT CONNECT FRONT AND REAR OUTPUT TERMINAL CONCURRENTLY
Do not connect the front and rear output terminal concurrently for the same output channel. Failing to observe
the connection requirement could potentially raise a fire hazard if the output current exceeding 80 A.
ENSURE PROPER AWG CABLE IS USED
Use a cable with the correct voltage and AWG rating based on the intended setup when operating the E36150
Series autoranging DC power supplies.
Binding posts
SHOCK HAZARD
Turn off AC power before connecting wires to the front panel. All wires and straps must be properly connected
with the binding posts securely tightened. For any application where the output voltage exceed 60 VDC,
ensure proper wire insulation to avoid electric shock hazard.
The E36150 Series power supply comes with high current detachable binding post (KPN E36154-81000) that
provides you with a quick and safe DUT connections.
The front binding posts accept wires sizes up to AWG 6 in location (A).
Wire size AWG 6 is the recommended wire. If you are connecting more than one wire on each binding post, twist the
wires to ensure a good contact and securely fasten all wires by hand-tightening the binding posts. If you are using a
slotted screwdriver, tighten the binding post to 8 in-lb (90 N-cm) for a secure connection.
