How to Operate the VLT Series 3500
In order to program and locally control the drive, use the
control panel on the front of the drive.
The control panel serves a dual purpose:

Local operation
-
Programming
The control panel consists of:
-
a display, which gives information about the drive, the
process, or the status of the drive’s program
parameters.
-
eight keypad switches, which allow the user to select
the display, make changes to the drive’s status, and
make changes to the drive’s program parameters.

two light emitting diodes, which indicate:
green (On): the drive is connected to the AC line.
red (Alarm): an alarm or fault condition exists.
The VLT Display
The display is designed to be lit whenever the drive is
connected to the AC line.
The display consists of 3 lines:
Line A
Seven large alphanumeric
characters
Lines B and C Fourteen smaller alphanumeric
characters on each line
Remote Mounting of the Control Panel
The control panel can be removed from the drive cover
and remotely mounted. An adaptor plate and 10’ cable is
available. The control panel and adaptor plate can be
installed on a NEMA 12 enclosure and retain the NEMA
rating.
The Keypad Switches
The following keypad switches are on the control panel
of the drive. The next page gives a description of the
individual keys and their functions.
