ASSEMBLY
4.8 FLEX HOSE ROUTING
For easy installation of hose parts, you may use a
solution of soap and water as lubricant when sliding
hose pieces together.
NOTE
1. Set the 56” aluminum side manifold on the side tube
mount. Position the manifold so that the front end is
about two inches from the front U-bolt.
2. Fasten the manifold to the tube mount weldment with
two 5/16” u-bolts and four nuts (Figure 42).
3. Slide an 8-11/16” t-bolt clamp over each end of the 90
degree elbow. Then, slide the elbow over the RH end
of the front CWS manifold. Point the elbow toward the
rear manifold.
4. Insert an elbow support band into the 90º elbow.
5. Determine the length of hose needed to connect the
elbow support band to the 56” manifold and cut the
hose. Leave enough slack in this portion of flex hose
to allow complete up/down and fore/aft movement of
the reel.
6. Install the flex hose over the elbow support band and
the front end of the 56” manifold with two 8-3/8” t-bolt
clamps.
7. Slide an 8-11/16” t-bolt clamp over each end of a 90º
elbow. Then, slide the elbow onto the fan outlet. Point
the elbow toward the rear manifold.
8. Insert an elbow support band into the elbow installed
in the previous step.
9. Determine the length of flex hose needed to connect
the elbow support band to the RH rear manifold and cut
the hose. Install the flex hose over the elbow support
band and the back end of the manifold with two 8-3/8”
t-bolt clamps.
10. Slide an 8-11/16” t-bolt clamp over each end of the
45º elbow. Then, slide the elbow onto the RH end rear
manifold. Point the elbow toward the 56” manifold on
the side of the reel.
11. Insert an elbow support band into the 45 degree elbow.
12. Determine the length of flex hose needed to connect
the elbow support band to the 56” manifold. Cut the
hose if needed. Leave enough slack in this portion
of flex hose to allow complete up/down and fore/aft
movement of the reel.
4.8.1 RIGHT HAND ROUTING
NOTE
If installing dual fl ow system, Install alternate rubber-Y
connection, see Figure 42.
13. Install the flex hose on the elbow support band and
the rear end of the 56” manifold with two 8-3/8” t-bolt
clamps.
14. Tighten all t-bolt clamps to the torque specifications
on page 48.
4.8.2 LEFT HAND ROUTING
1. Secure the transition tube mount brackets to the fluid
reservoir on the back of the header using four set
screws. Place the tube mount as shown in Figure 43
on page page 33. For FD70 or CIH 2162, the right
transition tube mount bracket should have been in-
stalled at the same time as the gearbox mount bracket.
2. Refer to Figure 9 and Figure 46 dimension A for tube
mount location and orientation. Using a mount clamp
as a template, measure from the left hand inside edge
of the header and mark and drill two 9/32” holes. Install
the tube mount weldment using two 11/32 X 7/8” scews.
3. Refer to Figure 9 and Figure 46 dimension B for tube
mount location and orientation. Using a tube mount as
a template, measure from the left hand inside edge of
the header and mark and drill two 9/32” holes. Install
the tube mount weldment using two 11/32 X 7/8” screws.
4. Set the 141” center manifold on the tube mounts over
the feeder house and secure each end with a u-bolt
and two 5/16” nuts and washers. Position as shown
in Figure 45.
Two sets of tube mounts are provided for the center
manifold. Use the tube mounts with the slotted hole
(reference purposes only) when installing on an FD70.
Use the tube mounts without the slotted hole when
installing on an FD1 or FD75. Discard the tube mounts
that are not used.
NOTE
IMPORTANT
DO NOT drill into the fl uid reservoir. Tighten bolts on the
clamp so that they secure the clamp around the reservoir.
5. Determine the length of hose needed to connect the
rubber-”Y” and the center manifold. After determining
the length of hose needed, cut the hose.
IMPORTANT
On FD70 for Gleaner or Lexion combines only:
To
prevent damage to the cab when fully raising the head,
the tube mount kit on page 82 is required to relocate the
center dual fl ow tube that passes over the feederhouse.
Use the FD1 & FD75 dimensions in Figure 43 or similar
to locate the two mounts. Failure to do so may cause
damage to the cab.
