ASSEMBLY

4.1 GEARBOX/FAN MOUNT (FD70 , FD75 & CIH 2162 HEADERS)

1. Mark and drill a 21/32” diameter clearance hole for

gearbox mount in head. Measure 8.125” from the
vertical beam (Figure 5). The hole should be placed
as close as possible to oil reservoir.

2. Attach the gearbox mount weldment to the adapter

tube using the mount plate and bolts as shown in Figure
8 using four 5/8” x 7” long bolts and nylock nuts and
torque to 150 ft. lbs.

3. Install the upper support bracket to the gearbox mount

using two 3/8 x 1-1/4” carriage bolts and flange nuts.
Align the lower support bracket with the square hole on
the header adapter and secure with a 1/2” bolt. Tighten
all hardware (Figure 6).

4. Connect the upper and lower support brackets using

3/8 x 1-1/4” carriage bolts and nylock nuts (Figure 6).

5. Use a jack or hoist to position the gearbox in place next

to the gearbox mount weldment. Attach the gearbox to
the weldment with six 1/2” x 1-1/4” flange bolts. Torque
hardware to 75 ft-lbs.

6. Attach the PTO holder to the gearbox mount using two

3/8” x 1-1/4” carriage bolts and nuts (Figure 8).

7. Check the gearbox and, if necessary, fill the gearbox

with lube before use.

Use Mobilube SHC 75W-90 synthetic gear lube or
equivalent with the following specifications:

API Service GL-5/MT.1
MIL-L-2105D
MACK GO-J PLUS
SAE J2360
Capacity: 28 ounces (0.8 liters)

NOTE

Apply a medium strength thread locking agent to the bolts
used to secure the gearbox mount to the header and the
gearbox to the mount.

NOTE

If you are installing a dual ﬂ ow system install the tube
mount bracket shown in Figure 7 at this time. The bracket
can be found in the dual ﬂ ow kit.
