Chapter 6 Pre-Monitoring Preparation
6.1 Switching On the Monitor
WARNING
: Check if all the metal parts are linked to the grounded power cord
and the cord is working correctly before powering on the monitor.
WARNING
: If any sign of damage is detected, or the F9 Monitor displays some
error messages, do not use it on a patient. Contact a biomedical
engineer in the hospital or our service technicians immediately.
Press the power switch located on the right panel to turn on the Monitor. The power indicator lights
up and start-up music will be heard. You can operate the F9 Monitor after the main interface appears.
You can choose to switch the start-up music on or off,
1) Select the Setup key
on the main interface.

General
Start-up
Music
.
3) Select
ON
(default) or
OFF
.
4) Select
OK
.
NOTE: Check all the functions to make sure that the F9 Monitor is in good condition.
NOTE: If the F9 Monitor has a large amount of data saved in its long-term memory, it will
take a few seconds to load them after start-up. When you notice the message
“Loading data, please wait…..” on the screen, do not operate the F9 Monitor until
the main interface appears. A message “Load failed!” indicates that the data has
been damaged and therefore can not be loaded.
6.2 Checking the Recorder Paper
The monitor provides a
Print Self-Check
function to check if the recorder paper is loaded correctly
and set.
The recorder prints a baseline and paper settings after start-up (if
Print Self-Check
is ON).
Check if the paper settings (circled in the illustration below) match the paper being used, and then
observe the starts and ends of the printed baselines (illustrated with the arrow). The starts and ends
should be printed exactly on the edges of the pane if the recorder paper is correctly loaded and set. If
