Avoid placing the detector near heat-generating devices, such as
ovens, saunas etc., which may cause unwanted alarms.
•

Maximum distance from wall or bulkhead is 4.5 m and between
two detectors it is 9 m.
Flame detector
•
Flame detector to be installed where flames can be expected in
the initial stage of a fire.
•
The flame detector shall be mounted so it has a clear view to the
anticipated fire.
•
The detector should be mounted in the best angle (elevation and
azimuth) to cover the protection area. See the data sheet for the
actual flame detector for more information about angle of
protection etc.
IS smoke detector for EX areas
•
The location of the detector shall be selected as for other smoke
detectors. See the earlier description.
•
Detectors are connected to fire detection loop via an isolator
unit, which should be located in safe area right outside the
protected EX-area, easily accessible for service.
Conventional high temperature heat detector
•
For saunas the detectors are generally installed in the ceiling.
•
Alarm temperature of the detector shall be at least 30ºC above
normal attainable temperature.
•
The detector shall be connected to an address unit located
outside the hot area, where it can be easily accessed for service
and in as good environment as possible. Max cable length
between the sauna detector and the address unit is 25 metres.
•
The address should be set on the address unit and the function
ID switch (small DIP-switch) should be set.
•
An end of line unit shall be fitted inside the detector base.
Address units
•
The address unit is used to interface conventional detectors (or
any dry closing contact) to the addressable fire detection loop.
•
In addition to the loop address, the address unit has one ID
switch that has to be set, please see appendix B.
Manual call points
•
Manual call point shall normally be mounted 1.6 m above floor
level.
•
Max allowed distance between two call points is 40 m.
Short circuit isolator
•
Short circuit isolators (SCI) can be installed between each fire
detection zone, where the loop cable leaves or enters the zone or
between decks. The location principle is to separate each fire
