7. ACCESSORY DESCRIPTION AND ASSEMBLY

7.1

Catalog No. 2522X Coolant Circulator

The Catalog 2522X Coolant Circulator is designed to provide enough coolant

to operate the Portaspec continuously for 8 hours without overheating the x-ray

tube. It now comes as a standard accessory with a new X Series Portaspec

The Coolant Circulator plugs into a dedicated software-controlled receptacle on the

back of the Portaspec, that can be configured to be

“Always On”

, circulating water

all of the time or

“Cycle With X-Rays”

, only on when x-rays are energized. It can

be used as a replacement to our Models 2511 or 2511X Circulators and can be

plugged directly into any Portaspec accessory receptacle.

7.2

Filling the Coolant Circulator

It has a three-gallon capacity and

comes with a submergible pump

with inlet filter, 8

’ of hose that

connects to the Portaspec and

one gallon of a Propylene Glycol

solution to add to distilled or

de-ionized water at the following

ratio:

3 Gal. (11.4 L)               De-ionized
             or Distilled Water

½ Gal. (1892 ml) Propylene Glycol

There is no flow requirement on the

Portaspec for hose connections as

the cooling circuit is a continuous

closed loop. A typical flow rate,

when connected to the Portaspec

is approximately 1 quart per minute.

The 2522X Coolant Circulator does not chill the water as chilled water could

lower the internal components below the dew point resulting in condensation.

This in turn, could damage internal components.
