8. MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING

The Portaspec

has a modular component design that enables the user to exchange

boards or components that may be defective. However, only qualified technicians
should be selected for Portaspec service and only a Cianflone Scientific certified
technician may do the annual Portaspec certification.

It may become necessary to contact Cianflone Scientific's Service Department for
service assistance or to schedule service; you should have the model number and
serial number of your Portaspec at that time.

Depending on your governmental and in-house regulations, you may need to have
your Portaspec certified for radiation safety on a regular basis. Only a technician
certified in radiation safety and monitoring, whether in-house or third party should be
chosen for this purpose.

IMPORTANT!!

The Portaspec uses an x-ray tube as its source of radiation.

As with all x-ray tubes, lack of use may be detrimental. If the unit is not used
in your daily operation, it is highly recommended that you operate it at least
once a month to protect the x-ray tube part of the system.

8.1. Troubleshooting Chart

The most frequent source of problems come from the power source that the
Portaspec is plugged into. Always conform that you have a stable source of power,
in both voltage level and continuity as well as frequency, before you take any other
action. The power to the Portaspec should be 117VAC, 50 or 60 Hz.
