The Engine Oil Pump, when removed from the New Production Engine contains Factory Fill Engine Oil.
The engine oil pump must be cleaned using Degreasing Solvent followed by a 50/50 solution of Engine Degreasing
Solvent and EF ‐ 411 followed by air drying.
The intent of this manual is to explain the areas of concern during the oil pump cleaning process.
Labs are free to use internally fabricated automated type cleaning fixtures if desired, however;
Caution needs to be exercised during cleaning to avoid dry spinning of the oil pump gear assembly.
Labs may decide to open certain sections of the assembly, however, technicians should be extremely careful to avoid
removal of the pressure balance spring and rotary section, including vanes and seals during any cleaning procedure.
Labs can use multiple methods to spray the degreasing solvent through the passages while rotating the pump drive
gear to cycle the cleaning solution through the internals of the pump.
The Oil Pump must be clear of any excess cleaning solution and/or 50/50 Engine Degreasing Solvent and EF ‐ 411
before installing on a new test engine.
