Abnormal results

■ 

Alveograph

The results graphs below show the typical effects of some of the 
Alveograph's internal faults.

The same malfunctions could occur if the test is not correctly carried 
out. It is therefore advisable to ascertain that all parameters and 
instructions for use are precisely observed.

When a test result is suspect, run a control test with a sample flour. 

See Control chart, page 13. 

In which case fault detection is based 

on a simultaneous comparative analysis of the three graph parame-
ters P, L (or G) and W.

Deviations are weighted with the plus (+) or minus (-) signs in the 

following manner

❏ 

+ / – means that the deviation is visible

❏ 

++ / – – means that the deviation is substantial

❏ 

= means that there is no noticeable deviation

Changes should be analyzed by reflecting about possible compen-
sations between the causes of errors. This is the case for instance 
for a Mixer in poor condition used with an Alveograph with leaks 
and a very damaged upper plate.
