10. Network Printer Functions
M4
is equipped with an Ethernet interface. Therefore it is possible to connect
the printers to a network using a
10 Base T / 100 Base T
network connector
and TCP/IP Protocol.
Using the Ethernet Interface allows functions such as :
- Printing with LPR/LPD or RAW-IP
- Direct assignment of an IP Address or use of DHCP Servers
- Query status and change printer settings using HTTP
- Manipulate files stored on the memory card and update Firmware via FTP
- Send the status and error messages by E-Mail (EAlert) and SNMP
- Synchronize the date and time using a Remote Time Server
NOTICE !
The ability to use the available functions depends on the configuration of
the local network.
Connecting the Printer / Printer Configuration
Information how to connect the printer on the Ethernet interface you can find in
the chapter "Installation".
The chapter "Printer Configuration" contains information how to configure the
printer using the Ethernet interface an the internal web-page.
Pay special attention to the recognition / assignment of the IP Address and the
activation of a four-digit code number (PIN).
NOTICE !
IP Address and PIN must be known for using the network printer
functions !
