1997 EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEMS
WARRANTY FOR GASOLINE ENGINES
5-YEAR/50,000-MILE EMISSION DEFECT WARRANTY
Blue Bird Body Company warrants to owners of 1997 TC/2000 school busses that the gasoline engine and
evaporative emission control system (1) were designed, built and equipped so as to conform at the time of
sale with applicable regulations of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency and the California Air Re-
sources Board, and (2) are free from defects in materials and workmanship which cause the engine to fail to
conform with those regulations for a period of use of 5 years or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The 5-
year/50,000-mile warranty period shall begin on the date the vehicle is delivered to the first retail purchaser
or, if the vehicle is first placed in service as a demonstrator or company vehicle prior to sale at retail, on the
date the vehicle is first placed in such service. Emission-related defects in the genuine components listed
below, including reasonable related diagnostic costs, are covered by this warranty. Any authorized Blue Bird
service center will, as necessary under these warranties, replace, repair or adjust to Blue Bird specifications
any genuine components or parts thereof that affect emissions. Diagnostic costs are included.
If your vehicle fails a California emissions inspection and, if the emissions failure is caused by the failure
or malfunction of an emissions-warranted part, Blue Bird Body Company will correct the part failure or
malfunction.
WHAT IS COVERED
Listed below are most of the systems that affect emissions of your engine, if so equipped. These compo-
nents are covered by the above warranty. Emission-control components of these systems are covered by the
emissions warranties as applicable. Items that require scheduled replacement as required maintenance are
warranted up to the replacement interval specified in your Maintenance Schedule booklet.
• Computer Command Control System.
Engine control module and associated sensors and parts.
• Fuel Management System.
Fuel Injection System.
• Air Induction System.
Thermostatic air cleaner system, intake manifold.
• Ignition System.
Ignition parts and associated controls, including spark plugs and ignition wires, distributor parts and
associated controls.
• Catalytic Converter System.
Catalytic converter and associated parts.
• Exhaust Manifold.
• Positive Crankcase Ventilation System
PCV valve and associated parts, oil filler cap.
• Exhaust Gas Recirculation System
EGR valve and associated controls.
• Electronic Vacuum Regulator System.
EVR valve and associated controls.
• Evaporative Emission Control System
Vapor storage canister and associated controls, fuel tank filler cap and restrictor, vapor control valves
and fuel tank.
• Miscellaneous Items Used in Above Systems
Emission-related hoses, clamps, tubes, fittings, sealing devices, mounting hardware and wiring har-
nesses.
