TRACTION CASE ASSEMBLY
(DROP BOX) (PF-510 ONLY)

NOTE

The PF-510 has two traction cases, one on
each side.

REMOVAL

Step 1:
Improve access to the traction case.

a. Remove screed side arm.
b. Remove side deck plates and support bracket.
c. Break track so that it is off the sprocket (1); see

DRIVE TRACK ASSEMBLY.

Step 2:
Remove U-bolts and disconnect drive shaft from
traction case (2).

Step 3:
Drain traction case assembly (16 qts., 15 L).

a. Remove drain plug at the bottom of the traction

case.

b. Allow lubricant to drain into the catch container.
c. Install drain plug when fluid has finished drain-

ing.

Step 4:
Remove traction case.

a. Attach lifting device around traction case

assembly.

b. Remove traction case dipstick pipe.
c. Remove mounting bolts.

NOTE

Watch out for shims!

d. Lift traction case away from the machine.
e. Remove, tag and mark traction case shims for

installation (if present).

DISASSEMBLY

NOTE

During manufacturing, surface sealant is
applied to parts subject to filling with asphalt.
Remove sealant with gasket scraping tools.

Step 1:
Remove top traction case cover plate (1).

a. Remove mounting bolts and washers.
b. Lift cover off of traction case.
