DISTRIBUTION CHAIN INSTALLATION

HEAD TIMING GEAR

Pass the distribution chain (17) on the drive shaft pinion, as
shown in Fig. A

Insert the ﬁ xed and mobile chain tensioner slides as shown in
the previous section and then the two distribution gear cams,
making sure that both are ﬁ tted referring to the timing “x” as
shown in Fig. B.

NOTE

Distribution chain assembly is necessary always taking into
account the fact that the engine needs to be in TDC condition

During this operation, the chain and distribution gears need to
be lubricated with engine oil.

VALVE CLEARANCE ADJUSTMENT

A

Once the distribution cover has been removed (see previous
section) use a thickness gauge to check the clearance between
the cam and hydraulic cup, as shown in Fig. A.
If the measurement is outside speciﬁ cations, replace the calibra-
ted pad.

NOTE

This measurement is necessary for all cams.
