When entering User ID information the 

<Options>

 key may be used 

as a backspace/correction key. Pressing the 

<Options>

 key with no 

User ID information entered causes the display to return to the 

Run/

Options

 prompt. 

Bar Code Scanner

3. Use the Bar Code Scanner to input User ID data from a bar code. When 

acceptable data is received from the Bar Code Scanner, any characters 
previously entered via the keypad are deleted from the screen and replaced by 
the bar-coded User ID information

ERROR:

If the Bar Code Scanner reads an ISBT standard bar code that is not a 
User ID, the following message is briefly displayed:

Next, the screen returns to the 

Enter User ID

 prompt.

NOTE:

When entering User ID information from the Bar Code Scanner, the 

<Options>

 key may be used as a delete key after a scanned User ID is 

displayed. The screen returns to the 

Enter User ID

 prompt. 

When the appropriate User ID information has been entered via either the 
keypad or the Bar Code Scanner, the screen updates to display the 

Enter Bag ID

 

prompt. Proceed to Section 5.3, Enter Platelet Storage Bag ID.

Enter User PIN

No User Currently 
Logged On

If the currently defined setting of the 

Options / System Settings / Enable User ID/

PIN

 parameter is specified as 

ENABLE ID & PIN,

 and no user is currently “logged 

on,” the first prompt displayed when the 

Run Test

 function is accessed will be:

Proceed as follows:

1. Using the keypad, enter your previously defined 1-5 digit numeric PIN value. 

(Refer to Section 4.4.1, Security Access to ‘Run Test’, and Section 6.5.4, 
Enable User ID and PIN. for more information about PIN value definition 
procedures and requirements.) 

2. When the correct PIN value is displayed on the screen press the 

<Enter>

 key 

to continue.

NOTE:

Bar code scanning is disabled during PIN entry. 
When entering a PIN, the keypad function is restricted to numeric 
data entry only (alphabetic character functions are disabled). When 
typing the PIN, the digits are hidden and indicated as "X"s on screen. 

The 

<Options>

 key may be used as a backspace or correction key. 

Pressing the 

<Options>

 key with no digits entered causes the display 

to return to the 

Run/Options

 prompt. 

3. When a correct PIN value has been entered, the screen updates to display the 

Enter Bag ID

 prompt. Proceed to Section 5.3, Enter Platelet Storage Bag ID.

NOTE:

This user is now "logged on.” A user remains logged on until either: 
a) the user logs out via the 

Options Menu

 (refer to Section 6.2, Log
