Method 2 - Over the network
On the node 1 (//1) console, menu <right> click on the grey
background, select Programs from the Workspace menu pre-
sented. Choose Shell from the Programs menu . You will be pre-
sented with a new window and the QNX prompt.
Insert the new license expansion disk in the floppy drive.
Enter login root (you will need the password).
Enter license
Enter license -r
Enter license //1/etc/licenses //2/etc/licenses
Enter license //1/etc/licenses //3/etc/licenses
... etc., for all nodes
Enter slay -fsSIGUSR1 bciNet.dbase to have the network data-
base recognize the new network size.
Enter netmap to see the list of running nodes. Nodes that are
off, will show as Tx failures. On the nodes that are down, you
will need to use method one in order to allow them to connect
to the network.
Enter exit (to cancel root privileges and close the window)
STEP 2 Update the network plan
Add the new console’s information to the NETWORK PLAN-
NING FORM in Appendix C.
STEP 3 Install QNX
Follow the instructions in the subsection INSTALLING QNX .
Be sure to install license expansion disks for every node on the
network, not just the new console. If you are adding a fifth
console to a network of four consoles, you will need to insert
five license expansion disks into the new console.
STEP 4 Install OIS12 console software
Follow the instruction in the appropriate subsection INSTALL-
ING OIS12 SOFTWARE (SOFTWARE RELEASE 5.1A or 5.2)
of this Appendix.
