2.15 Safety rules for use and maintenance of spindles
Before starting spindle rotation, it is essential to:
Make sure that the tools have been fitted only after having cleaned the conical spindle seat,
Make sure that the tools have been fitted and tightened,
Make sure that the number of revolutions set in the programme is lower than the maximum
number of revolutions allowed for the tools fitted on the machine,
Make sure that the weight and size of the tools and the number of revolutions set in the
programme are compatible with the spindle power characteristics,
Make sure that the direction of rotation set in the programme is the right one for the tools fitted on
the machine, when these are machining,
If one spindle must rotate in the opposite direction from standard rotation, make sure that the
counter-ring nut has been fitted and tightened (or other, appropriate anti-loosening devices),
If there is an all-around protection or cabin, make sure that the doors are closed and that no one
is inside the enclosure.
Check the condition of the tools and make sure that there are no chips or deformed parts that
may compromise balance.
Make sure that the tools, spacers and tool-holder shafts meet the requirements specified in the
machine instruction manual.
Before accelerating the spindle to the programmed speed of rotation, start the spindle rotating at slow
speed and make sure (listening to the rotation noise) that the tools that have been fitted are properly
balanced and do not cause excessive vibrations.
Before stopping spindle rotation during a programmed machining operation, make sure that the tool is
not in contact with the piece and/or with parts of the template.
2.16 Safety rules on the use and maintenance of mechanical parts
Remove the guards (protection guards and bellows) only during ordinary and extraordinary maintenance
operations. Never run the machine without the protection guards.
Do not touch moving or rotating mechanical parts.
Do not perform machine maintenance or cleaning while the machine is on.
Do not allow the machine to carry out any movement if someone is inside the safety enclosure.
Do not enable the blocking devices is someone is inside the enclosure.
