Installing the Avaya S8700 Media Server with an Avaya G650 Media Gateway
December 2003
Configuring and connecting the hardware in the rack
After you have installed all the hardware in the rack, you must connect them together, using the cables
provided. Once everything is connected, you must configure the two media servers, the SNMP Modules
in each UPS (if Avaya supplied), and the SNMP Subagent in the Avaya Ethernet switch (if Avaya
supplied). The latter two are to allow that equipment to send alarms (traps) to the media servers.
This section covers the following tasks:
•
Downloading license and Avaya authentication files on page 31
•
Configuring the media server
on page 34
•
Connecting duplication cables
on page 46
•
Configuring a second media server
on page 46
•
Connecting UPS Ethernet cables to an Ethernet switch
on page 46
•
Configuring the SNMP modules in the uninterruptible power supplies on page 47
•
Configuring the SNMP subagent in the Avaya Ethernet switch (if used) on page 51
Once the hardware is installed, you must configure the two media servers, install the license and Avaya
authentication files, and test the connectivity to the customer’s network. You want to upgrade and
configure the first media server and verify its operation before configuring the second media server.
