SharpStreamer™ Mini PCIE-7205 Installation and Use (6806800U01A)

Software Installation

In order to control, configure, and interact with the PCIE-7205 card installed in the host system 
you need to install the core OS and required applications on top of the host system. This 
chapter provides information on how to prepare a host system and also the prerequisites 
required for installing PCIE-7205 OS and pci7207 utility. The preparation of the host system 
includes the OS installation, firewall configuration settings, TFTP and DHCP configuration, 
SELinux settings and pci7207 utility and the PCIE-7205 OS installation. It also provides 
information about post installation, upgrade and removal procedures of both PCIE-7205 OS 
and pci7207 utility.

6.1

Prerequisites

This section explains the software prerequisites required for setting up the host system.

6.1.1

Preparing Host System

It is recommended to install the CentOS 7.1 Linux Desktop distribution on the host system. A 
Linux OS based on Ubuntu 14.04.x is also available for the PCIE-7205, which can be used on a 
host system running either CentOS 7.x or Ubuntu 14.04.x. The Setup and use of the Ubuntu 
Linux package is described in the documents included in the Ubuntu Linux package. The 
following sections describe the setup and use of a Linux OS based on CentOS 7.1 on a host 
system running CentOS 7.1.

To obtain the CentOS 7.1 installation media, go to 

www.centos.org

 and follow the CentOS 7.1 

installation instructions to boot the installation media and start the install process. During the 
host OS installation process, select the following packages:

GNOME Applications

Remote Desktop Clients

Compatibility Libraries

Development Tools

For the PCIE-7205 card to function correctly, it is necessary for the host OS to provide Dynamic 
Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) and Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP) services. That 
means, the following packages need to be installed on the host system:
