SharpStreamer™ Mini PCIE-7205 Installation and Use (6806800U01A)

Introduction

This chapter describes overview of SharpStreamer™ Mini PCIE-7205 card, applications, 
features, hardware overview, software overview, standard compliance, and ordering 
information.

The Artesyn SharpStreamer™ Mini PCIE-7205 is designed as a high-density server media 
accelerator card that enables service provider networks to offer video transcoding services 
quickly and dynamically. As an add-on card, PCIE-7205 with its half length form factor, offers 
quick and scalable integration with existing Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Multiple 
System Operators (MSOs) who want to use existing servers and cloud infrastructure to support 
new video transcoding services.

The PCIE-7205 is a PCI express x4 PCIe compliant card, a half length full height PCIe card. The 
card has one PCIe x4 gen 2 bus gold finger edge.

SharpStreamer™ Mini PCIE-7205 is used in video streaming applications such as Over-the-Top 
(OTT) streaming servers, mobile network optimization, video conferencing and broadcast 
equipment. Artesyn employs multiple Intel

® 

Core™ i5 and Graphics Processor Unit (GPU) 

accelerated devices in a small and scalable PCI Express card footprint that is easily deployable 
in off-the-shelf platforms.

The PCIE-7205 also offers net work scalability, enabling providers to add more cards and 
density as needed. It requires far fewer servers and much less operational cost to power video 
transcoding services.

The PCIE-7205 is equipped with a Software Development Kit comprised of the Intel

®

 Media 

SDK runtime files with Intel

® 

HD Graphics fixed-function hardware acceleration, monitoring 

and processor subsystem O/S, and management tools for easy integration with server host 
processing environments.

The following are the main features of the PCIE-7205:

PCIe Half length Full height card (167.65 mm x 106.65mm).

Dual or Single Intel Core-i5-5350U Processors as accelerators (Broadwell).

Dual Gigabit Ethernet Controller to access each Core-i5 processor/accelerator.

vPro® Enabled Processors for remote access Virtual Network Computing (VNC) and Serial 
Over LAN (SOL).
