Center Crankcase
Components
NOTE: This procedure cannot be done with the
engine/transmission in the frame. Complete
Removing procedures for Top-Side, Left-Side, and
Right-Side must precede this procedure.
NOTE: For efficiency, it is preferable to remove
and disassemble only those components which
need to be addressed and to service only those
components. The technician should use discretion
and sound judgment.
Separating Crankcase
Halves
1. Remove the left-side cap screws securing the
crankcase halves. Note the location of the differ-
ent-lengthed cap screws.
2. Remove the right-side cap screws securing the
crankcase halves. Note the location of the differ-
ent-lengthed cap screws.
3. Using the Crankcase Separator/Crankshaft
Remover and tapping lightly with a rubber mallet,
separate the crankcase halves. Account for four
alignment pins.
NOTE: To keep the shaft/gear assemblies intact
for identification, tap the shafts toward the
right-side crankcase half when separating the
halves.

Crankcase Half
NOTE: For steps 1-7, refer to illustration CC821B.

NOTE: To aid in installing, it is recommended that
the assemblies are kept together and IN ORDER.
1. Remove the secondary driven shaft assembly (A)
noting the location of the bearing locating pins.
Account for the bearing C-ring.
