3 General

The AQ-M215 motor protection IED is a member of the AQ-200 product line. The hardware and

software are modular: the hardware modules are assembled and configured according to the

application's I/O requirements and the software determines the available functions. This manual

describes the specific application of the AQ-M215 motor protection IED. For other AQ-200 series

products please consult their respective device manuals.

AQ-M215 offers a modular motor protection and control solution for motors requiring both current-

based and voltage-based protection functions along with complete measurements. There are up to

three (3) option card slots available for additional I/O or communication cards for more comprehensive

monitoring and control applications. Up to sixteen (16) RTD signals can be connected for thermal

alarming and tripping. AQ-M215 communicates using various protocols including the IEC 61850

substation communication standard.
