12.3 First Line Servicing
In the event of a failure with the system, the customer should make some
provisional checks and actions before calling Land Instruments International
Service department.
1) Always leave the fan/blowers operating while the transmissometer is in
position on the stack.
2) On no account remove the main cover to the transmissometer with the
power supply still switched on.
3) Remove the front detail panel on the transmissometer to reveal the display
unit. Check the state of the LED indicators.
If:
a) The 5v LED is OFF. Check the power supply source to the unit is switched
on. Fuse failures or overload trip of circuit breakers should not be replaced
or reset until the cause of failure has been identified and remedied.
Check all cables and connections are in place and not damaged.
b) The SYSTEM OK light is Off. This indicates a fault has been detected. Check
the instrument is not set in the align or calibration mode.
c) Alarm LED is ON. This indicates a high opacity condition which may be due
to fault conditions.
This can occur if the purge unit is blocked or the auto failsafe shutter (if
fitted) has operated and remains in the failsafe position (closed).
If the system is alignment has been disturbed an alarm indication may
occur. Check alignment.
