8.2.2 Transmissometer
When the retro-reflector has been correctly aligned, the transmissometer
should be aligned in a similar fashion, though in this case the alignment target
is permanently visible in the sight aperture and it is simply necessary to centre
the reflected flashing spot on the target by adjusting nuts X and Y on the
transmissometer unit. Follow the procedure:
1. Remove the front detail plate on the transmissometer (Fig. 7-2). This
exposes the sighting hole display LEDs and keypads. Viewed through the
hole in the PCB the ringed target is illuminated and clearly visible located on
the instrument casting behind the PCB.
2. Press the left hand Key marked MODE - Step through the displays until an I
shown in the left hand side of the display e.g.
3. Adjust X and Y nuts on transmissometer unit until light is in centre of target.
In the alignment mode the light is continuous (not flashing) and the figure
in the right hand side of the display will now read an arbitrary figure of
around 500. The transmissometer is now aligned.
