10.4 Method 2 - Alternative Re-calibration (Opacity)
Re-calibration of the system may be carried out using this method with the units
still in position on the stack, without clear stack conditions.
Note
This method does not calibrate out any changes with the retro-reflector.
i.e. dirty reflector.
1) Remove the top cover plate on the transmissometer.
2) Insert the zero reflector holder in the filter position nearest the stack with
the reflector facing the display end of the transmissometer.
3) The display must be blank (normally the software operates a time out
facility after 10 minutes). The blank screen can also be displayed by
stepping through the menu.
Step through with the Mode key until the display indicates C XXX .
4) Press and hold the F1 key until the word 'Zero' appears on the display. The
target light decimal point will flash indicating the instrument is automatically
setting the zero point.
When the decimal point stops flashing the display value should be 0.00.
5) Place the zero reflector holder (supplied as a separate item) into the filter
holder position nearest the stack with the blank side (non reflective)
nearest the display.
6) Press the F2 key and hold for 2 seconds until the decimal points on the
display start to flash the display should now read C 100
7) Remove the Zero reflector holder. Replace the transmissometer cover plate.
9) Press the Mode key until the display reads 0 XXX (opacity value)
10) The calibration procedure is now complete.
10.5 Isokinetic Sampling for Dust Measurement
The customer is responsible for contacting and arranging for an appropriate
agency to perform isokinetic sampling measurements on the emissions from the
stack. The customer should prepare the Opacity/Dust monitoring system so
that measurements can be made at the same time as the isokinetic samples are
taken. When the results from the isokinetic samples are received, the instrument
can be adjusted accordingly to conform to the average reading.
