7 Electrical Installation
Caution
ALWAYS TURN OFF POWER BEFORE PERFORMING ANY ELECTRICAL WORK.
7.1 Cable Considerations
The following cable considerations are the responsibility of the customer.
1) Power supply and wiring to the fan/blower units -
Fan motor ratings: 230V 50Hz 600VA.
110V 50Hz 600VA
110V 60Hz 720VA
2) Power supply and wiring to the transmissometer:
85 to 264V 50-60Hz maximum rating 10VA
3) Alarm and signal wiring to from transmissometer to customers own data
recording facilities.
Note
Use screened / shielded cables for signals. Maximum loop resistance 1000
ohm
General comments
Fan/blower units are selected to operate at 230V : 50Hz, 110V : 50Hz or 110V :
60Hz and having been factory selected for the required voltage, as indicated by
the customer at the time of sale.
The system should have the capability of being totally electrically isolated. Land
Instruments International recommend that a suitable isolating switch/circuit
breaker or fuse is fitted to the power source. Interconnections can be made using
flex - conduit or flexible conduit.
7.2 Sockets and Plugs
The transmissometer has two male plugs protected by a screwed sealing blanking
cover these should be removed when connecting up and replaced whenever the
unit is disconnected to protect the terminations. Supplied in separate packaging
are two sets of components to make up
1) A nine pin socket for the signal cable which has crimped style terminals
capable of accepting 24/28 AWG wires
2) A power socket which has 3 way and ground/earth screw fastening
terminals.
Terminal connections to these sockets are shown in tables Fig 7-1.
