11 Maintenance
11.1 Periodic Maintenance Routines
The Land Instruments International Model 4200 has been designed for a minimal
amount of routine maintenance in normal applications. To ensure a maximum
monitor lifetime, however, the following maintenance schedule has been
developed. Remember that the air purge system should always be left on, even
if the boiler is off, to prevent any contamination of the optics. In exceptionally
dirty facilities the time periods below should be shortened.

Test all hose clamps for tightness.
Pre-filter 701.893 90 days Dust level should be below the
line. Remove, empty, wipe out
and replace.
Filter cover/ Rubber

N/A 90 days Remove the filter from the filter
housing. Remove the rubber
cup, then empty, wipe out and
replace.
Filter Element 701.980 90 days Examine for holes or rips. Wash
thoroughly, dry, then replace.
Replace annually with a new filter.
Blower

90 days Check for bearing noise. bear-
ing failure and subsequent blower
failure can be detected early.
Check blower air flow to be sure
that the blower is performing
normally. Dirty air filters or clogs
may reduce air flow and cause
undue stress on the blowers.
Optics N/A 90 days Check and clean the optics.
Air Purge N/A 90 days Check that there is a continu-
ous stream of purge air into the
stack. Check that there is no ash
buildup inside the standpipes that
could block the light path.
During the regularly scheduled maintenance periods, any optional equipment (i.e.
shutters, purges, weathercovers) should be checked for correct operation. If any
potential problems are noted, the equipment should be repaired or replaced if
necessary.
