2. INSTALLATION
2.4 Wiring the UPS
•
The installer must read the safety instructions in the introduction of this
manual. To minimize the risk of injury or damage, the UPS should be
connected only by personnel trained in the installation of electrical equipment.
•
During installation the battery breaker must be OFF. The UPS can supply
lethal voltages and currents without being connected to line power.
•
Caution must be used at all times. Keep all metal tools, jewellery and other
metallic objects from touching the battery terminals. When attaching the front
enclosure to the rear enclosure, it must not touch the battery terminals.
DANGER
PURPOSE: Describes how to connect the UPS to the
loads, the external alarm panel and to line power
(Figures 2.10, 2.11).
Wiring Checklist
Use only copper wire. For details of wiring the P1250, see Figure 2.10. For
details of wiring the 1250T, see Figure 2.11.
Make the connections with either conduit or armoured cable.
If the installer finds the
1
/
2
inch conduits too small,
3
/
4
inch conduits can be
used. Remove the
1
/
2
inch conduits, then remove the
3
/
4
inch knockouts around
the openings. Then install the
3
/
4
inch conduits (Which are not provided by
Alpha Technologies).
Total Earth ground leakage of the loads connected to the UPS are not to
exceed 3.1 mA.
Switch OFF:
•
The battery circuit breaker.
•
The input circuit breaker.
•
The line power circuit breaker.
