Mounting the Equipment
There are several modules that need mounting before wiring the units together. The UXBM and UXSM
are responsible for collecting data from the battery and typically are mounted close to the battery. The
UXCM is responsible for accumulating the data from the UXBMs and UXSMs and provides connectivity
to the network or a local computer for data viewing.
8.1.
Mounting UXBM and UXSM Hardware
Mounting the UXBM and UXSM can be accomplished by a number of different ways. A multi-use plastic
mounting bracket is included for each UXBM and UXSM but depending on the mounting scheme chosen,
this bracket may or may not be used. This bracket is designed with an assortment of holes and slots to
accommodate a flexible way of attaching it using tie wraps or banding. As an alternative, the back of the
UXBM and UXSM has slots that can accommodate tie wraps or banding eliminating the need for the
additional bracket previously described.
Note
: Not all systems may include a UXSM as a separate module. Depending on the system
requirements this may be included in the UXCM module.
In the example below, the mounting bracket is used to mount the UXBM and UXSM to a UNI_STRUT®
commonly used on open battery rack installations. The UNI_STRUT nuts are not part of the standard
installation kit and are sold separately.

In this example, the UXBM and UXSM is mounted directly to the battery using strapping. This strapping
is optionally available as an alternate method for mounting the equipment. It can be mounted using the
bracket or directly to the UXBM and UXSM. Mounting the Banding directly to the UXBM/UXSM is
sometimes undesirable because the banding will have to be removed to service the UXBM and UXSM.
