CO
2
sensor calibration
The IRMA
™
probe must be calibrated whenever an offset is found in the measurements or when the
Calibrate CO
2
sensor
alarm is triggered.
The probe cannot be calibrated until approximately 10 seconds after it has been connected to the ven-
tilator.
Probe calibration must be performed with a new adapter on the sensor. This must be disconnected
from the Y-piece of the patient circuit and from the patient. Next, press the
CO
2
sensor calibrat
. key
to launch probe calibration. The green LED on the probe flashes for about five seconds during calibra-
tion.
Special care must be taken to avoid any breathing into the adapter during probe calibration. The pres-
ence of ambient air (21% O
2
and 0% CO
2
) in the probe is crucial for a successful calibration.
